Is a Nose Job Right for Me?

Have you ever asked yourself, "Is a nose job right for me?"

HOUSTON, TX, December 15, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Have you ever asked yourself, "Is a nose job right for me?" The only way to honestly answer this question is to consider others such as:

- Does my nose detract from my other facial features?
- Does my nose make me feel uncomfortable or self-conscious?
- Does the shape of my nose make it difficult to breathe?
- Am I ready to take charge of my appearance and commit to a surgical procedure?

If you are able to answer "yes" to any of these questions, a nose job may be exactly what you have been looking for.

Rhinoplasty

A nose job, or rhinoplasty, is a surgical procedure in which the internal structure and external appearance of your nose is brought into line with your other facial features. A nose job can correct problems including:

- Nose shape
- Nose size
- Nose location
- Nose symmetry
- Tip direction
- Nostril closures

There are two types of nose jobs: closed and open. Closed rhinoplasty is performed entirely on the inside of your nose. Open rhinoplasty is performed inside and underneath your nose. The procedure that is most suited to meet your unique needs and facial features will be determined by your facial plastic surgeon.

Ideal Rhinoplasty Candidates

To be a candidate for rhinoplasty you should first be dissatisfied with the appearance of your nose. Additionally, good candidates for this procedure should be:

- In generally good health
- Nonsmokers
- Ready for a surgical procedure
- Prepared for a surgical recovery
- In good emotional and psychological health
- Have realistic expectations of results

During your initial consultation with a facial plastic surgeon, your candidacy for this procedure can be determined.

Rhinoplasty Considerations

Rhinoplasty is considered a safe procedure but, like all surgical procedures is not without its risks. Risks of this procedure include infection, excessive bleeding, and asymmetrical results. These risks can be decreased by choosing a board-certified facial plastic surgeon and carefully following all of you surgeon's postoperative advice.

Swelling and bruising are common following rhinoplasty. This should subside within two weeks, at which time your results will begin to be apparent. However, it can take up to one year for your results to be completely realized. During this time it is important that you follow your surgeon's advice to help ensure stunning results.
