Ogden, Senior Manager of Technical Operations, Research and Development for MedImmune, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.
In addition to being an engineering manager, Mr. Ogden (also know as Bill Ogden) is now an aspiring author and speaker. His new foray into writing comes during his current 25-year career in biopharmaceuticals, which includes four years in his current role with MedImmune. He has developed an expertise in the design, operation, validation and maintenance of biotech and sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing process equipment, facilities, and utilities.
Mr. Ogden is managing a group of engineers supporting clinical biopharmaceutical manufacturing. His duties include ensuring product quality, purity, safety and efficacy and the reliable operation of biotech manufacturing process equipment and utilities. He is also skilled at project management, problem solving, providing transformation, and mentoring and developing professionals. He would like to continue growing in the fields that interest him.
Mr. Ogden has been working as a pharmaceutical engineer, supporting biotech and sterile manufacturing, for over 25 years. He spent 16 years at Merck and five years at Amgen before joining MedImmune. Mr. Ogden has often worked with equipment manufacturers to have equipment custom built to his specifications. Some of his designs (including mechanical seals and filter housings) have become part of the manufacturers' standard product lines.
Mr. Ogden attributes his success to his curiosity and constant learning, which have resulted in understanding how things work. He was recruited by Merck as a utilities supervisor while he was attending Calvary Baptist Seminary in Lansdale, where he earned a Master of Divinity. Two years later, he moved to biomanufacturing engineering support, providing engineering services for vaccine manufacturing. The highlight of his career was helping design and build a new polysaccharide vaccine production facility at Merck.
Mr. Ogden's impressive education also includes an equivalent to a Master of Science in nuclear engineering from the Naval Nuclear Power School and a bachelor's degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University. He is a member of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering and his local church.
