MASON, OH, May 3, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dana A. Reaves, Registered Nurse working currently for Kenwood Surgery Center, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in health care.
In 1981, Ms. Reaves completed an Associate of Arts in nursing at Troy State University. Whereas, she quickly defined her extensive career of 33 years through the pathway of critical care and education exceeding her initial level of education. Finding reward in higher levels of professionalism and learning through strong communication skills and desire to motivate other health care providers to exceed and excel in their chosen areas of nursing, she found her true passion was deep seated in education. Also through her strong desire to excel, many opportunities afforded her success and excitement to continue to push through the educational boundaries with a limited degree. She achieved status of Open Heart Educator at Florida Hospital, which was declared the fourth largest in the nation for number of open heart surgeries at the time, in '91. It is also where she achieved her CCRN certification (Critical Care Registered Nurse) and ACLS instructor certification. Ms. Reaves created the "Physician Lecture Series" promoting educational opportunities for nurses to increase bedside knowledge working with complex critical care patients and gain continuing education credits as well. She also initiated research opportunities within the unit working cohesively with the Research Department. Ms. Reaves also achieved Open Heart/Critical Care Educator status at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She also worked with Deknatel-Snowden-Pensor (DSP) evolved to Genzyme as a Clinical Nurse Specialist traveling throughout the U.S. teaching healthcare professionals the clinical use of Pleurvac and Open Heart drainage systems while employed in the hospital. Ms. Reaves also had the privilege to speak to national sales groups and medical professionals in New Orleans at NTI (National Training Institute) in regards to the clinical use of chest drainage systems. Her critical care experience encompasses multiple arenas including many years in the Emergency Department, SICU (Surgical Intensive Care Unit) and ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Also, she was elected President of Quality Assurance Department involved in updating and rewriting policy at Kennestone Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Recognized for years of invaluable contribution to the medical community, Ms. Reaves has garnered several awards and distinctions. In 1993, she was nominated to represent the U.S. as a Critical Care Nurse to travel to China to compare critical care modalities. She was also recognized by DSP (Deknatel-Snowden-Pensor/Genzyme) with an award for her creation of the company magazine title "Heart of the Matter." In 2012, based on experience, achievement and longevity in her field, she was inducted into Worldwide Who's Who as a lifetime member. Ms. Reaves feels she can attribute her continued success to persistence and passion for her work. Within the next five years, she plans to continue positively impacting the health care field as a Legal Nurse Consultant.
Ms. Reaves is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and charitably affiliated with her local church. She also proudly sponsors a child in need in China, providing for an education that she would not otherwise be afforded. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, exercising, sailing, and spending time with her family. She feels she is truly blessed.
