LAS CRUCES, NM, June 8, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Antony A. McClure, Assistant Performance Training Coach for New Mexico State University, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in sports performance and training.
When it comes to training philosophy, Mr. McClure goes against the grain. He always had an interest in developing and training athletes, and his training is geared toward shorter, more intense workouts rather that long, extended workouts. This gives the athlete more speed and agility without sacrificing stamina. Holding 13 years of experience, he currently serves as an assistant performance training coach for New Mexico State University.
Mr. McClure's expertise includes speed and agility training, skills he uses when developing year-round training curriculum for eight sports teams, including general training programs and injury recovery programs. He was the first person to become certified as a periodization planning specialist and strength and conditioning expert through the Tudor Bompa Institute. He has worked with various teams that have won conference championships and attributes his success to his passion for his profession, his positive attitude and the support he received from his mentors, John Taylor, Dr. Tudor O. Bompa and Dr. Jim Petersen.
In 1989, Mr. McClure earned a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Arizona State University. A certified strength and conditioning specialist via the National Strength and Conditioning Association, he also holds certification from the International Sports Sciences Association and the National Sports Performance Association. On January 7, 2013, The National Strength and Conditioning Association announced that Mr. McClure, was the recipient of the 2012 NSCA Assistant College Strength and Conditioning Professional of the Year Award. "This is one of the highest honors you can get from this world-wide organization," he says. "It's like getting an academy award for an actor." He is the second trainer from New Mexico State University to be chosen for this award. Looking ahead, he hopes to grow professionally as a coach.
