    LOUISVILLE, KY, June 6, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Donna Fowler Brian, Triage Nurse and Case Manager for the Newburg Primary Care Clinic of the VA Medical Center, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing leadership.

After being inspired by her grandmother, Ms. Brian pursued a career in the field of health care, and has now gained nearly 40 years of experience in the field. A firm believer that health care professionals should treat the whole person, rather than just their symptoms, she serves as a triage nurse and case manager for the Newburg Primary Care Clinic of the VA Medical Center. Her longevity in the health care industry has been key to her success.

In her capacity, Ms. Brian utilizes her background in oncology nursing to facilitate emergency management initiatives and educate patients on the benefits of non-smoking behavior. She delivers quality patient care because she understands that treatment processes can heighten emotions and stress levels. A breast cancer survivor herself, she has a strong empathy for her patients and educates them on public service awareness.

A registered nurse, Ms. Brian strives to educate herself every day. She holds several certifications, including an oncology certification through the Oncology Nursing Society and certification in CPR. She is also nationally certified in the InterQual ISD Review System. In 1975, she earned an Associate in Nursing and Applied Science from Jefferson Community College. Thirty years later, at the age of 50, she gradauted from McKendree College, now McKendree University, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In 2009, she gradauted from the same insitution with a Master of Science in Nursing. Her future plans consist of pursuing a Ph.D. in public health nursing
