Brigid O'Connor Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Oncology and Hematology

    BOSTON, June 21, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brigid O'Connor, Radiation Oncologist at Commonwealth Heamatology Oncology, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in oncology and hematology.

With unparalleled experience in oncology and hematology, Dr. O'Connor brings a decade of experience to her position as a radiation oncologist at Commonwealth Heamatology Oncology. Boasting an extensive resume, Dr. O'Connor began her career in the field through her education. In 1985, she received a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from Saint Patrick's College, and then pursued a Ph.D. in biochemistry from The Institute of Cancer Research at the University of London. Most recently, she obtained an MD from the Boston University School of Medicine.

As an expert in the fields of radiation oncology, IMRT and stereotactic radiation surgery and chemotherapy, Dr. O'Connor uses radiation as the main course of therapy for her patients. On a daily basis, she also meets with patients in consultation in order to discuss the best course of treatment.

Dr. O'Connor, a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology, is board certified in the field. She has garnered multiple awards throughout her impressive career, including the Dean's Excellence in Teaching Award from the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University in 2010 and the best published paper from Roswell Park in 2007. In addition, she has been awarded the Howard H. Wong Resident Scholarship from ACRO, as well as the Pharmacia & Upjohn Prize in Pharmacology, which was bestowed on her in 1996. Looking toward the future, Dr. O'Connor intends to participate in cancer research as well as palliative care for patients with advanced stage cancers.
