Ms. Kader has nine years of experience in education, with four years in her current position as owner and director of Kanata South Kumon Centre, an independent afterschool math and reading education center. Her areas of expertise include working with and educating children, project management and data analysis. In addition to carrying out teaching duties, Ms. Kader is responsible for managing staff, evaluating students' work and communicating with parents and students in relation to progress, issues, goals, etc. She also handles the center's administrative and marketing needs.
Ms. Kader and her chief assistant utilize the Kumon method, a 50-year-old learning system founded by Toru Kumon in Japan that features a vast curriculum of subject matter content and skill levels for students from pre-school through high school. With the help of Ms. Kader and her staff, math and reading students diligently master the requirements of each study level before progressing to the next one. Kumon, which is the world's largest afterschool math and reading program, emphasizes an independent, individualized approach to learning. In the Kanata South Kumon Centre, more than 30 percent of Kumon math students work above their grade level.
Fluent in English, Arabic and French, Ms. Kader is a fully licensed Kumon educator. She holds a master's degree in economics and statistics and an Honors Bachelor of Science in Physics, and she has extensive experience teaching at the university and elementary school level. All three of her children are dual subject Kumon students, and she volunteers regularly at their school. Prior to establishing the Kanata South Kumon Centre, Ms. Kader served for twelve years in the federal government and for two years as a researcher in the University of Ottawa's Department of Epidemiology.
Ms. Kader in 2012 received a formal recognition certificate from the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. She attributes her success in the educational sector to her love for education and her ability to provide parents with effective tools and resources. Ms. Kader traces her involvement in her profession to her desire to see her students succeed and develop a love for learning.
