COFFEYVILLE, KS, June 30, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Karen Roush, Professor of Business and Office Technology for Independence Community College, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.
Ms. Roush has 16 years of experience as a professor of Independence Community College. In the course of her duties, she is responsible for teaching computer application classes and office technology, as well as general legal and medical office processes, beginner algebra classes and leadership classes. In addition, she serves as a liaising between her division and the vice president. The highlights of Ms. Roush's career were receiving Master Teacher Awards in 2005 and 2009. She attributes her success to her parents who always wanted her to do her best and instilled a drive in her. She became involved in her profession because she started working as an accountant. She stopped by to see her instructor and was recruited to teach mathematics as an adjunct professor.
Ms. Roush became an education specialist in workforce development through Pittsburgh State University. In addition, she has earned a Master of Science in technical teacher education from Pittsburgh State University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in business administration and accounting from Fort Hays State University. In recognition of her hard work and dedication, she was presented with an Advisor Continued Excellence Award from Phi Theta Kappa for five years. To give back to her community, she contributes to the American Cancer Society, the Epworth Project, recycling efforts, and VolunteerMatch.org. In years to come, Ms. Roush would like to continue working in education, possibly in an administrator role.
