GATINEAU, QUEBEC, CANADA, July 10, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jocelyne Lafreniere, KPMG Partner, Audit and Advisory of KPMG LLP, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in accounting.
Ms. Lafreniere has 27 years of professional experience, with five years as a partner of KPMG LLP. In the course of her duties, she is responsible for serving as the leader of international development assistance and compliance services within KPMG's Ottawa Advisory practice. Following the earthquake in Haiti, Ms. Lafreniere was so deeply moved by the tragedy that she reached out to the international and Haitian communities to offer support in the reconstruction efforts. Over the past two years, she has served several United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations in Haiti and continues to provide assistance. Ms. Lafreniere attributes her success to her client service excellence, innovative approaches, a very positive attitude, and being well organized. Ms. Lafreniere became involved in her profession due to her strong desire to assist others, and manage talent. She believes that there is greatness in each one of us.
Ms. Lafreniere received a Bachelor of Commerce from HEC Montreal. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant, Certified Internal Control Auditor, and a Certified Professional Success Coach. To remain in contact with other industry professionals, she became a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Institute for Internal Controls, and the Success Coach Institute. In recognition of her hard work and dedication, she received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for Significant Contribution to the Community in Canada and Abroad, and she was a finalist for the 2011 Professional Woman of the Year Award organized by the Ottawa Business Women's Network. To express her desire and passion for the empowerment of women and the protection of children, Ms. Lafreniere has actively championed both causes.
She is a former president of the Outaouais chapter of the Reseau des femmes d'affaires du Quebec, and she was also a co-director for five years at Youth Action, an adolescent youth group. In the near future, Ms. Lafreniere plans to write a book on personal empowerment and engaged more actively in public speaking and business and personal coaching, mentoring and training.
