Jesus loves me this I know, because He crushed me so...
"'The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.' Whoever falls on that stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder." Luke 20:17,18
/24-7PressRelease/ - October 31, 2007 - God loves His children too much to let them continue in sin. If a believer will not willingly fall on the stone and be broken then God will grind him or her to powder. God is gracious, merciful and patient. He's not vengeful toward His children. Yet He disciplines those He loves.
In 2001, after decades of habitual sin, God crushed me. There had been many opportunities for me to repent. But out of fear I had been unwilling to confess the depths of depravity - sexual perversion - that had plagued my life. So God forced everything into the light. Since then I've been open and honest about my sin. As a result I've discovered that I'm not the only believer who struggles with inappropriate sexual desires and behaviors.
Sexual sin in the church is epidemic. Pornography, sexual exploration outside marriage (fornication), adultery, all kinds of perversion, even criminal sexual behavior can be found in every church. It affects the lives of all believers. Yet surprisingly sex is rarely discussed. Admittedly it's a sensitive and embarrassing subject. It can be very uncomfortable to talk about. However silence only strengthens the bondage. Until there's an open and honest dialogue sexual sin in the church will only increase.
In silence my passions turned increasingly wicked until they became criminal. Fortunately God never gave up on me. After decades of hiding in the darkness God forced me into the light. He brought be into a church family that deals openly with sexual issues. He gave me a pastor that gets his hands dirty. "Samson of a Man: Saved Soul, Wasted Life" is an account of my life and what God has done. It's full of Biblical and spiritual insight important to all believers. It's a book that I wish never needed to be written. Above all I wish I wasn't the author. However, this conversation has to start somewhere. It's up to others to keep it going.
