Captain Brenda Hays Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Business Management

    HOMER, AK, August 14, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brenda Hays has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in business management.

After moving from Anchorage to Homer in 1977, the only jobs available were in the fisheries. Her very first summer job in Homer was deck-handing on a Cook Inlet gillnetter. That winter she landed a job as Office Manager for a local real estate company, and fell in love with buying and selling real estate.

Ms. Hays sat for her Real Estate Associate License in 1979 and also her US Coast Guard 6 pack charter license. The sea was her first love, and she climbed the USCG ladder to Captain of vessels up to 1600 tons. She has worked on a hydrographic ship for NOAA, mate on a tug boat (towing a 200-foot barge from Seward to Bethel, Alaska), many landing crafts of various sizes delivering freight to coastal towns, oil spill recovery work, Captain of various charter boats, cooking on king crab vessels, mate on the Seldovia Ferry, deck-handing on many fishing vessels, and then 20 years on her own boats the Arch Cape and Memory Maker. In 2011 Brenda Hays retired from commercial and charter fishing and is now enjoying selling real estate full time.

Past businesses she owned were Arch Cape Charters and B&B, Bay Blue Mussel Farm, Alaska Natural Seafoods, Inc., Memory Maker Charters and Alaska Experience B&B. In March 2013 she completed one of her long-term goals; to become a Real Estate Broker. She is now an Associate Broker for Wavefront Realty in Homer, Alaska.
