Worldwide Who's Who Names Margaret J. Taylor, M.C., R. Psych. Professional of the Year in Mental Health Care

    CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA, October 18, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margaret J. Taylor has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Mental Health Care. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

With five years as a registered psychologist in both public and private practice, Ms. Taylor conducts face-to-face and teleconference presentations for professional development and capacity building through Alberta Health Services, the University of Calgary Continuing Education Department and her private practice. Through these presentations, she works directly with professionals who help children and adolescents overcome addiction and mental health issues. She is also responsible for researching child psychology methodologies, as well as considering interventions. Ms. Taylor regularly makes observations on children in clinics, agencies or schools, and conducts informal assessments of children in order to support interventions or recommend full assessments towards a diagnosis.

Ms. Taylor attributes her success to immense support she receives from her colleagues, past professors, daughters, and ex-husband. She has developed courses to certify teacher assistants who work with emotionally and behaviorally challenged students, and she also advises frontline social workers, teachers, physicians, and psychologists on how to work with child and adolescent addiction and mental health concerns. She is currently working to establish a smoking cessation program that will feature face-to-face and online workshops and webinars. After successfully stopping her own 40-year smoking habit for over a year now, she is practicing what she preaches.

Ms. Taylor received a Master of Counselling, a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary. In addition to her degrees, she is a registered psychologist, and she has obtained her Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) certification from EMDR Canada. Margaret is a registered member of the governing body of The College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of The Psychologist Association of Alberta. During her undergraduate years, she received an achievement award and bursary from the University of Calgary, honoring her for her outstanding grades and overall achievement in her joint degree program, all while successfully juggling an alter-ego as a single/separated Mom.
