BRYAN, TX, December 04, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Traditions Club (www.traditionsclub.com), the private golf club and residential community in Aggieland, with the Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II Design championship golf course, has partnered with the St. Joseph Health System to break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS for the World's Largest Gingerbread House. All net profits acquired are donated to St. Joseph's Level II Trauma Center which is a 501(c)(3).
The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS (http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/1/largest-gingerbread-house-) adjudicator, Philip Robertson, was there Saturday, November 30th to verify the record-breaking 39,201.8 cubic-foot structure. The previous record holder was 36,600 cubic feet and was built inside the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Traditions Club Executive Chef, Michael Menchaca, lead the baking team to success. The house at Traditions Club is 60 feet by 42 feet and is 20.11 feet tall at its highest point. It was constructed using 1,800 pounds of butter, 7,200 eggs, 7,200 pounds of flour and close to 3,000 pounds of brown sugar. Add to this 22,304 pieces of candy that are attached to it. Totaling 36 million calories!
Thank you to all of the Traditions Club Members, gingerbread house sponsors, volunteers and bakers that helped make this project possible.
The trauma program at St. Joseph has been designated as a Level II Trauma Center, as defined by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). This designation makes St. Joseph Regional Health Center (SJRHC) the highest level trauma center in the region. Having this level of trauma care available in our region allows patient access to high quality trauma care, closer to home. (http://www.st-joseph.org/landing.cfm?id=424)
The house will be up until December 14 and open from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Santa will be available for photos at this time. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for kids. So far, the house has raised in excess of $150,000 for St. Joseph Level II Trauma Center.
All proceeds and donations from the visitors will be going to the St. Joseph Level II Trauma Center. All of the materials were donated to the project.
