LONDON, ENGLAND, December 09, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The launch of the first Qbic Hotel in the UK capital could be something of a game changer for the London hotels industry, proving lost cost doesn't have been mean unsustainable or lacking in personality. The hotel is housed in an old office building near Brick Lane and each of its 171 bedrooms features ergonomically designed 'Cubi', which integrates all the furniture in the room, including the bathroom, while locally sourced fixtures and fittings add personality.
Rooms cost from GBP59 upwards, but its unique style distances it from the usual budget chains, backed up by its five core principles: immaculate cleanliness; comfortable beds, made of natural and organic materials; power showers; free WIFI; and peace and quiet, courtesy of specially manufactured doors with sound proofing.
The hotel ethos is to give back to the surrounding community. The public areas are laden with art exhibited for free by young, local artists, while the basement area is offered to start-up businesses, again for free. Additionally, 50 per cent of staff are from the area, and within a year an additional 20 per cent of staff will have been bought in from 'difficult backgrounds', as a result of partnerships with Food Cycle and Bike Works charities. The hotel kitchen sources the food locally and even lets its neighbours grow vegetables in its garden.
Bridges Ventures, the company behind Qbic Hotel London City and Qbic Hotel Amsterdam, aims to launch 10 hotels over the next seven years in London and other major cities.
Qbic Hotel London City is based on Adler Street, close to Aldgate East tube station. For information on other hotel launches and places to stay in London, visit LondonTown.com.
