DARWIN, NORTHERN TERRITORIES, AUSTRALIA, December 31, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Clare Gardiner-Barnes, Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Transport, a subsidiary of the Northern Territory Government of Australia, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Branding. Ms. Gardiner-Barnes has 20 years of professional experience, having recently become the CEO of the Department of Transport at the Northern Territory Government of Australia. Over the years, she has established herself as an expert at reform and change management within the public sector. On a daily basis, she is responsible for leading organisational decision making and direction for the delivery of transport services and infrastructure. Ms. Gardiner-Barnes also serves as a chairperson of the Road Safety Committee. She manages transport-related decsions for the Northern Territory Government and works with major developers on transport asset matters. In addition, she works with industry representatives and groups to promote economic development and investment in the Northern Territory.
Looking back, Ms. Gardiner-Barnes attributes her success to her hard work, capacity to find creative solutions to difficult problems, and the fact that she enjoys a challenge. She is also motivated and stimulated by the support that she receives from the staff and team that surrounds her and helps to implement the tasks that need to be done. She became involved in the public service 20 years ago as a young mother who needed a flexible and family friendly work environment that offered a professional challenge and sense of reward. She has since worked across many portfolio areas including education, children and famillies, women's policy, youth and now transport. She loves her current role and is passionate about it. It was through a natural progression of opportunities and willingness to take on new challenges that she was able to work in such a wide variety of areas.
Ms. Gardiner-Barnes received a master's degree in social welfare administration and planning from The University Of Queensland. She is a chairperson of the Road Safety Committee, a board member of AustRoads, and a member of the Australasian Rail Corporation. In years to come, Ms. Gardiner-Barnes would like to stay within the transport area, learn new agendas and face new challenges. She looks for continued growth within her current role, as well.
