TAMPA, FL, January 14, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Winter is officially here and that means freezing temperatures, ice, snow and erratic garage door behaviors. Overhead Door Company, a business performing garage door repair in Tampa, wishes to offer tips that will help you keep your garage doors operating normally, even in freezing conditions.
Keep Your Doors in Top Shape
A garage is the ideal place to store your car when the temperature begins to drop--as long as you can get the door open. Cold weather can make your garage door difficult to open. The Tampa overhead door experts recommend that you start your garage door winterization by lubricating all moving parts of your garage door with a high quality lubricant that was designed for garage doors. You can typically find these lubricants at your local home improvement store.
Also spray lubricant between each door section to prevent them from sticking together. These sections can freeze together, especially in harsh weather, but the lubricant helps to keep moisture from being able to freeze in the cracks between your garage door sections.
"Use your garage door on a daily basis, even if you do not need to leave the house," says Bob Briesacher, President of Overhead Door Company. "Regular use will help to prevent the door from freezing shut and will help it to operate properly throughout the winter."
If your door should fail to open automatically, Overhead Door Company recommends that you disconnect the opening mechanism and open it manually. After a few successful manual openings, reconnect your opening mechanism for regular function.
