Reclaimed Woods: What originally began as a "green" solution has become a desired aesthetic. Reclaimed woods are being used in wall art, wall coverings and custom furniture pieces, earning them a spot on our list as a hot new trend for 2014.
Architectural White: Sleek, structured white on white makes a bold statement. Filling a home with strong, sculptural pieces expressing simple geometries accentuates a home's architectural features.
Fabulous Fur: Incorporating fur, usually as a rug or a throw, but also in furniture, adds a warm and cozy feeling to any interior, particularly minimalist- modern spaces.
Glitz and Glamour: Glass, crystal and acrylic accessories spotlight the focus on glamour this year.
Chalk Paint: From a kid's bedroom to a kitchen or office, this trend is both stylish and functional.
Digital Wallpaper: Wallpaper created from custom digital art makes a room personal and creative. Designs range from purely abstract and subtle to colorfully representational.
Monochromatic Palettes: Grays, blues, or whites in a monochromatic palette make a dramatic impression in a subdued, sophisticated way.
Mix and Match: Layering textures and materials such as metal and wood is key to the eclectic look achieved with the mix and match trend.
Rustic Woods: Rustic wood blended with modern elements is a steady trend with many visual expressions.
Color Contrast: Dark walls with white trims combined with pops of vibrancy in furniture and accessories display an exciting return to color this year.
Barn Doors: From the weathered appearance of repurposed woods to the sleeker presentation of black, red or white painted wood, barn doors are beautiful design elements to the home and one of the hottest design trends of 2014.

Tatiana Machado-Rosas, ASID, head of the design team at JDR, says homeowners can expect to see more and more color this year. "For 2014, we're seeing bold pops of color, especially in purples and lilacs, and also reclaimed and rustic woods used in non-traditional ways, such as barn doors entryways. Then at the other end of the spectrum, expect to see more crisp and clean palettes like the classic black and white and a return to glamour which you'll see in crystal, brass and fur accents."
