George holds a Master of Engineering Science in civil and coastal engineering
LONDON, April 1, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- George M. Mitchell, Environmental Consultant and Company Director of Technoeconomica, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in environmental modeling.
A graduate of James Cook University, North Queensland, George holds a Master of Engineering Science in civil and coastal engineering. After graduating he worked with Professor Rod Sobey on vortex shedding loads and modeling cyclone induced coastal inundation. On leaving university George returned to UK and joined Atkins R&D in Epsom. Here he spent 10 years as a dynamicist, developing and installing offshore motion simulation systems and analyzing problems related to offshore operations. In 1990 he moved to the Water Division in Atkins and turned his attention to fluvial and coastal flooding, water quality and outfalls of all kinds, including those from large power stations. As part of this work he was responsible for developing one of the earliest two-dimensional inundation modeling systems to be applied in the UK. More recently, he has developed a modeling system for heat balance in lakes and docks, or rivers and undertaken a number of projects on power stations in the Middle East.
After a 33-year career at Atkins, George left in late 2012 and formed Technoeconomica with a former Atkins colleague. Based in London, Technoeconomica specializes in management consultancy, including market analysis and research as well as George's own specialism, environmental modeling. Looking to the future, he is working to build the company's presence in the Middle East and UK.
George maintains an interest in computer science and is a member of the British Computing Society. George has varied interests outside the sphere of work, playing the violin and viola semi-professionally. He is a member of the Delius String Quartet, and he is also a diving instructor and keen underwater photographer.
He was recently inducted into Worldwide Branding in recognition of his various accomplishments. He attributes his success in his profession to a strong sense of curiosity, hard work, and the mentoring he received from Professor Rod Sobey.
