ATLANTA, GA, May 28, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Carrier compressor parts distributor, APM Cool, discusses the upcoming regulatory revisions regarding heating and cooling efficiency and what contractors need to know to get on board with these changes. 2015 will mark a notable shift in the way HVAC efficiency standards are tested. SEER, the regulatory agency in charge of setting industry-wide measures, continually strives to promote eco-friendly products and applications.
Only 25 Percent of HVAC Professionals Are Ready
Major shifts in the organization's focus do not occur annually, but when they do, HVAC installation and service contractors need to be up to par with the requirements. The emphasis for 2015 is on heat pump and unitary A/C systems for residential applications, something a vast number of technicians have yet to prepare for.
The Copeland compressor specialists say a recent study conducted by Emerson Climate Technologies found that 74 percent of contractors simply do not know what is going with regards to the residential application changes. The statistics for commercial HVAC revisions fares even worse as only 15 percent of contractors know about the new changes made regarding new chiller standards.
More and more companies are being made aware of SEER's 2015 revisions, which are comparable to the 2005 regulatory changes in terms of scope, but far too few have begun implementing effective training programs.
According to David DeBuc, Vice President of APM Cool, "The sooner contractors begin educating their staff about SEER requirements, the better. Efficiency standards are always on the rise, but implementation of them at the ground level is not always easy."
