Jennifer Prentice is a Recognized Leader in Her Industry

    MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, June 19, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jennifer G. Prentice, Sourcing Manager of VIP Packaging, a division of Pact Group, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in sourcing operations.

Ms. Prentice has 22 years of professional experience, with seven years as the sourcing manager of VIP Packaging. Over the years, she has established herself as an expert in purchasing, procurement, contracts and category management. On a daily basis, she is responsible for overseeing 35 sites, as well as managing contracts, buyers and suppliers.

Ms. Prentice's background has always been in the manufacturing arena, both in pharmaceutical and plastic raw materials. She has been in the industry, specifically in procurement and freight, for more than 20 years. She advises young professionals entering their career to always strive to get to where you want to be, balance work and personal life and be tough.

Looking back, Ms. Prentice attributes her success to her people skills, negotiation skills and ability to read a situation well. She has also developed a thick skin over the years. She became involved in her profession after she started out in the shipping and freight industry and progressed from there. She worked with the customs department, working out what people needed in order to get their goods from one place to the other. From there, she moved to purchasing, and worked her way up to procurement and distribution. She also worked in pharmaceuticals for a long time.

Ms. Prentice received a diploma in plastic processes and fundamentals from RMIT in 1993. She was recently inducted into Worldwide Branding and also maintains affiliation with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, and she is a former member of the Packaging Council of Australia. In years to come, Ms. Prentice aims to be a board member of one or two business so she can contribute at that level. She believes that Australia lacks women on boards, and that they can bring a lot of different perspectives to business.
