INDIANAPOLIS, IN, June 24, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mobius Learning announced that next month it will launch Linxus, a software suite designed to help students succeed in middle school. One of the most difficult aspects students face as they transition from elementary school to middle school is managing their time.
Mobius Learning, which creates custom eLearning solutions, developed Linxus based on the premise that in order for children to do well in their core classes, they must develop what are called "noncognitive academic skills."
"Noncognitive academic skills include study skills, work habits, time management, help-seeking behavior, and social/academic problem-solving skills," states Melissa Roderick, a professor at the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago and Co-Director of the Consortium on Chicago School Research. "Students need to become 'learners' rather than 'attendees,' who can manage their own learning, assess their progress and status, and rely on a set of core strategies for success. This is also the area that has been least developed."
Linxus is composed of four courses designed to meet these needs: Academic Organization, Time Management, Study Skills, and Social Citizenship.
The course on time management focuses on helping students understand time and how to use it effectively. Topics covered include time traps, prioritizing, and backward planning.
Linxus was crafted by instructional designers, software engineers, and graphic developers who combined the latest studies on child development with cutting-edge instructional design methodologies and multimedia principles to create an immersive learning environment that fosters skills to last a lifetime.
Each Linxus course features gameplay mechanics to engage learners, on-screen characters to help users connect to the content, comprehensive assessments to help teachers compare results, and strategies to help students easily retain and recall information.
Mobius Learning will unveil Linxus July 10 at the Elementary School Principals Conference & Exposition in Nashville, Tennessee. The software will be available online at a suggested retail price of $4.99 per student.
