CYPRESS, CA, August 12, 2014 -- Addiction Treatment industry leader Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation has decided to implement SOBERLINK as an option in the Hazelden Connection program for the remainder of 2014 and beyond. The decision came after a 6-month pilot in which Hazelden Connection utilized SOBERLINK to monitor several program participants for alcohol sobriety.
SOBERLINK, an advanced "smart" Breathalyzer, allows for convenient and discreet mobile alcohol monitoring by integrating several technologies. An embedded camera captures an image of the participant during the breath test for identity verification and a cellular module wirelessly transmits the test data to an online web portal. The web portal is completely automated with Adaptive Facial Recognition (TM) software, automated test reminders for participants, and instant alerts for designated contacts if there are signs of a relapse. Participants in Hazelden's Connection program will be offered SOBERLINK as an option to be monitored for alcohol remotely by a Hazelden Connection Recovery Management Professional.
The Hazelden Connection program provides support and coaching for participants, their family, and other concerned persons in the months following addiction treatment. The Connection program serves people from both inside and outside the Hazelden Betty Ford system of care. A large part of the program focuses on promoting accountability through active participation and monitoring. Incorporating SOBERLINK provides the participants with a discreet and flexible option for alcohol monitoring to stay accountable and feel supported while transitioning back to school, work, or a new environment.
