William L. Schmidt Honored for His Legal Acumen

William L. Schmidt was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. William L. Schmidt has been engaged in the private practice of law since 1973. In 1984, William L. Schmidt founded and is currently the president of William L. Schmidt & Associates, P.C. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself as an expert in trial work, general civil litigation, family law, personal injury, criminal and traffic law, business formation, wills, trusts, estate planning and real estate.

Looking back, Mr. Schmidt attributes his success to hard work; he started working when he was 6 years old. He became involved in his profession because it provided the opportunity to serve others, and to be in a profession as opposed to just doing a job.

Mr. Schmidt studied at American University Washington College of Law in 1972. He was recently inducted into The American Registry and also maintains affiliation with the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Virginia Law Foundation, the Fairfax Law Foundation, and the Fairfax District of the Salvation Army. In 2014, he received a Martindale-Hubbell Top Rated Lawyers award, adding to his already impressive Outstanding Alumnus Award from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1990, Outstanding Leader Award from Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity in 1969, Tradition of Excellence Award of the Virginia State Bar General Practice Section in 2012, Leader of the Law Award from Virginia Lawyers Weekly in 2010 and Fellows of the Virginia Law Foundation in 2010.
