David T. Black Takes Care of Business as a Civil Litigator

Mr. Black has served as an attorney and in various roles within the legal profession for more than 40 years. His areas of expertise include civil litigation and appeals, personal injury, wrongful death, real estate, and probate and estate administration. On a daily basis, Mr. Black works exclusively as a civil trial specialist, certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Supreme Court's Commission on Certification. Early in his career, Mr. Black worked as a part-time assistant attorney general. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971. For each of the past 30 years, he has been selected for inclusion in "Best Lawyers." On multiple occasions, Mr. Black has been selected by his peers as the "Top Attorney" in the Knoxville region in the field of Real Estate Litigation and Probate and Estate Litigation. Mr. Black has also served his community. For 20 years he was Chairman of the Blount County Planning Commission. He has served as a member and Chairman of the Blount County Economic Development Board and for 30 years as a director and former Chairman of the Tellico Reservoir Development Agency (TRDA).

In looking back, Mr. Black became involved in his profession because he wanted to do something productive that would make a difference in other people's lives. He is licensed to practice in all of Tennessee's state courts, the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Claims Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Black received a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from the University of Tennessee in 1966 and a JD degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1967. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliations with the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Association for Justice. He is a certified mediator.
