Mr. Black has also served his community. For 20 years he was Chairman of the Blount County Planning Commission. He has served as a member and Chairman of the Blount County Economic Development Board and for 30 years as a director and former Chairman of the Tellico Reservoir Development Agency (TRDA).
In looking back, Mr. Black became involved in his profession because he wanted to do something productive that would make a difference in other people's lives. He is licensed to practice in all of Tennessee's state courts, the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Claims Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Black received a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from the University of Tennessee in 1966 and a JD degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1967. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliations with the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Association for Justice. He is a certified mediator.
