Danielle is among our most gifted advocates for the public acknowledgement of the beauty and sensuality of disabled women.
NEW YORK, NY September 17, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Danielle Sheypuk, a pioneering NYC psychologist, commentator, fashion model, and advocate for disabled persons, who once again "worked the runway" during September's New York Fashion Week (NYFW), will feature at the opening reception for Raw Beauty NYC at the ACA Galleries, 529 West 20th St., 5th Floor, NY, NY. The by-ticket event will begin at 7:00 p.m. sharp.
Raw Beauty NYC is an innovative visual arts project designed to inspire the public to create new perceptions, transform stereotypes and break through personal obstacles by expanding its awareness of women with physical challenges.
Dr. Sheypuk, who is wheelchair-dependent, will feature at the event as one of 20 women, each living with various types of disabilities, showcased by photographers in the Raw Beauty NYC exhibit.
Sheypuk has posed for some of the most prominent fashion/beauty photographers in the business, most recently posing for a portfolio shoot with Pavel Antonov of Conde Nast fame.
Garnering wide public attention as Ms. Wheelchair New York 2012, Dr. Sheypuk broke major fashion barriers at NYFW in February, when she modeled for a designer of clothing for professional women. It was the first runway "walk" ever at NYFW for a model using a wheelchair. At September NYFW, she modeled urban-influenced fashions by designer India Vasquez.
"Danielle is among our most gifted advocates for the public acknowledgment of the beauty and sensuality of disabled women," said Jennifer Esposito, associate for marketing at Tranquility49 PR, representing Dr. Sheypuk. "She is a true pioneer on behalf of inclusiveness within the fashion and beauty industries - and she has put herself out there again and again to prove important points from her personal perspective."
The Raw Beauty NYC exhibit launches the partnership between mobileWOMEN.org and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, to improve access, education and outreach to women with disabilities, one of the most underserved populations in the disabled community.
The funds raised will go to support the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation whose mission is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy.
