WEST HINDMARSH, AUSTRALIA, October 15, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Geraldine Cox, Country Director and President of Sunrise Children's Villages in Cambodia, has been named a Worldwide Branding Executive of the Year in nonprofit management. While inclusion in Worldwide Branding is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Branding membership.
Ms. Cox is fully committed to ensuring that the children her organization serves have every opportunity to fulfill their potential. While her expertise is in raising funds and overseeing community development programs, she is most in her element interacting with the children one-on-one, sitting in on classes, eating with them at meal time and greeting school buses as they arrive. In addition to handling a variety of administrative duties, Ms. Cox is overseeing the transformation of what was once simply an orphanage into an educational center focused on community development through programs that exist outside of her organization. Having worked for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and witnessed the effects of war and poverty on several nations, she brings a significant amount of global experience to her role.
A determined and involved leader, Ms. Cox makes it a point to attend meetings in which she informs prospective supporters of the organization's offerings, including English, computer science, traditional music and agricultural training classes. She also takes suggestions for improvements to be made and speaks with families to discuss operations so they are aware of daily procedures. From raising more than $1.5 million per year to complete her projects in Cambodia, Ms. Cox has built a strong network, which she looks forward to expanding by gaining access to the philanthropy sector. With her platform as a public speaker, she has been invited to speak for numerous groups, including the Australian National Press Club, the South Australian Press Club, and the Sydney Institute.
Ms. Cox is a member of the Order of Australia, a board director for Oasis Africa in Kenya, an advisory board member for Bali Kids and on the advisory board of Humanitarian Affairs, UK. In 2012 she was presented with the Royal Order of Sahametrei Medal by Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia as well as Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year award, and in 2006 she received the Circle of Courage Award from Youth off the Streets Limited and the Weary Dunlop Award and was nominated for the South Australian of the Year Award.
Ms Cox is always seeking platforms for her to make presentations to further expose her work in Cambodia.
