NEW YORK, NY, November 07, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gatewave is a non-profit radio station that serves blind and visually impaired listeners, as well as others whose disabilities limit their ability to read print. Established in 2009, Gatewave broadcasts verbatim readings from newspapers and magazines to bring information to listeners around the clock. The service, which is available through special radios in the New York area, online, through the iBlink Radio mobile app, and through affiliated stations in seven states, gives its listeners access to daily readings from the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal as well as a host of weekly and monthly magazines. They also provide a growing number of programs and announcements specifically for those with visual impairments.
Though new to the board, Robinson is a longtime supporter of the station. He has been a listener of Gatewave and its predecessor, In Touch Networks, since losing his own vision 21 years ago. He says "I find it an invaluable service in keeping me informed."
Serving with Robinson on the board are its new Vice President Karen Perlman, former president Gail Starkey, and continuing members Les Marshak, Mark Manewitz, John Lyons, and Joseph Bellantoni. Executive Director Gordon Rothman says "In John Robinson, we are fortunate to have a dynamic leader who understood the importance of our mission long before we met. He'll be a strong voice in helping us serve more listeners and serve them better."
