Noted as one of the leading head and neck oncological surgeons within the United States, Dr. Kraus serves as a director with The Center for Head & Neck Oncology and a co-director with The Center of Thyroid & Parathyroid Surgery. In addition to his current appointments, Dr. Kraus also oversees comprehensive multimodality cancer care in the head and neck throughout the North Shore-LIJ Health System.
Dr. Kraus is a practiced expert in minimally invasive thyroid surgery, robotic surgery of the head and neck, and sentinel node biopsy for cutaneous malignancies, including melanoma. An advocate for minimally invasive surgery in the sinonasal region and skull base, Dr. Kraus has provided a number of innovations in head and neck oncology. He is also an accomplished lecturer and author, and has published more than 190 peer-reviewed journal articles.
Recognized for his profound contributions to medicine, Dr. Kraus was included in Castle Connolly's selection of America's Top Doctors from 2004 to 2014. He also received a Distinguished Service Award and Honor Award from the American Academy of Otolaryngology, as well as a Public Service Award from the American Head and Neck Society.
Dr. Kraus received an MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1985 and completed a residency in otolaryngology at the Cleveland Clinic in 1990. Recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, Dr. Kraus also maintains affiliation with a number of hospitals in the area, including Lenox Hill Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He has also held various leadership positions within the American College of Surgeons, American Head and Neck Society, and American Academy of Otolaryngology.
