As last year was deemed the reggae resurgence, reggae's derivation of dancehall has unfortunately been marred by various negative incidents, to which impressionable young kids and teenagers have often taken to heart.
Not singling a particular incident, Nigel Angus CEO of New York based Palm Tree Flow Records aims to reach out the the youths and highlight the positive sides of the music he loves. "With "Be You, Be True" benefit school tour I wanted to showcase Headliners from the Caribbean islands in a different lime light here in NYC, showcasing that reggae music is not all about violence in such artist are willing to give back and put on a great show for high school and colleges."
Sponsored by Pepsi, Red Bull and Preparatory Academy For Writers, "Be You, Be True" is headlined by dancehall and reggae star Future Fambo and will also feature K-Starr, Nevadaless, Shain Wong, Kadeem Nichols, LA Sostereo, Pyro among many others. Music will be provided by DJ Fragg with special guest DJ, Skerrit Bwoy the former daggering icon of the world, who turned his life over in the name of God, and has become a force with electric gospel music.
The proceeds of "Be you, Be True" Benefit Concert will be donated to both Preparatory Academy For Writers and to a school in Jamaica. After the concert, the artists will take the time to pose for photos, sign CD and posters while socializing in the school cafeteria.
