Elizabeth M. Seabrook Honored for her Skill as a Nursing Professor at Lambton College

    SARNIA, ON, January 13, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Elizabeth M. Seabrook, Nursing Professor at the School of Health Sciences for Lambton College, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing education.

Ms. Seabrook has 25 years of professional experience, with 13 years as a nursing professor at the School of Health Sciences for Lambton College. As an expert in nursing education with a focus on medical nursing, she teaches medical-surgical nursing and clinical skills labs, in addition to supervising clinical students, counseling and guiding students, and creating user-friendly documents for the faculty and students. As a teacher, she makes a commitment to knowing her students individually; this allows her to assist them with their academic challenges with a view to the personal issues that may impact academics.

Looking back, Ms. Seabrook attributes her success to her hard work, and her family for their unwavering support. She became involved in her profession after enduring a negative experience in an emergency room at the age of 18. Subsequently, she felt inspired to make a difference in the way nurses behaved and cared for others. The highlight of her nursing career is caring for clients who have amazing life stories to share. Her most memorable experience as a teacher involved working with students during a hospital clinical rotation, when she encountered a patient with complex wound care requirements and chronic medical conditions. The family shared with her that her teaching and assistance with navigating the health care system in preparation for discharge were exceptional and exemplary, while the students commented that they had never heard such accolades from patients before with clinical teachers.

Ms. Seabrook received a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Windsor in 2006, a diploma in occupational health nursing in 1998, and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Windsor in 1995. In addition to her degrees, she became a certified staging professional in 2010. She is a vice chairman of the curriculum committee of the collaborative Bachelor of Science in nursing program, and a faculty mentor of curriculum mapping and course revision. Her other affiliations include the Provincial Nurse Educator Interest Group, the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario, the Canadian Nurses Association, the National Gerontological Nursing Association, The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, and the International Association of Clinical Simulation Learning. In years to come, Ms. Seabrook will look for continued professional growth.
