LAS VEGAS, NV, January 29, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Jason Nielson of Children's Bone & Spine Surgery has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in pediatric and adolescent sports related injuries.
Doctor Jason Nielson is the only orthopedic surgeon in Nevada with a sub-specialty in pediatric and adolescent sports related injuries. He and his colleagues each have different sub-specialties, so combined, they can treat pediatric spinal deformities including scoliosis, kyphosis and spondylolisthesis, complex congenital and developmental deformities of the feet, hips and spine, and difficult developmental and neurological problems such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and muscular dystrophy.
Dr. Nielson also enjoys working with team soccer players and athletes and has trained hundreds of club teams where he emphasizes preventive medicine to avoid injuries. Additionally, Dr. Nielson serves as the physician for the Nevada Ballet Theatre. He joined Children's Bone & Spine Surgery in 2005. Dr. Nielson received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and he completed an Orthopedic Surgical Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, and a Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine Fellowship at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts under one of the fathers of adolescent and pediatric sports medicine, Dr. Lyle Micheli, and many highly skilled surgeons at Boston Children's Hospital.
Dr. Nielson is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and maintains affiliation with the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He was honored for his work by Vegas Seven Magazine, has published numerous scientific articles, and has written numerous chapters on orthopedic, sports and dance medicine topics.
