Judy Morgan Named Vice President of Medical--Director for National Canine Breeder Reform Group

Barbara Clifton to Serve on Advisory Board and Susan Schrade to head Advisory Board--Research

"USDA's breeder dogs standards are lax--they allow for housing in small crates, transportation without temperature or hygiene controls, and separation of puppy and mother too soon."

PINES GROVES, NJ, March 03, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Reform Canine Breeding and Auctions (RCBA) is composed of volunteers who seek to improve conditions for dogs being bred for profit. They are working to identify where and how regulation of commercial dog breeders could have the most positive influence for both breeders and their dogs.

Judy Morgan serves as Vice President of Medical--Director at Reform Canine Breeding and Auctions. She has been practicing veterinary medicine for 30 years. Last year Dr. Morgan (and co-author, Tonya Wilhelm) released a cookbook titled, What's for Dinner, Dexter, which ties into Morgan's series of YouTube videos addressing pet food labeling and how to use food as healing therapy for animals.

In 2014, Dr. Morgan published From Needles to Natural: Learning Holistic Pet Healing in which she shares her journey from traditional to holistic veterinary medicine.
When Dr. Morgan is not treating animals or researching and writing about pet nutrition, she is raising public awareness about conditions for parent dogs in breeding operations. "I know that most of my clients treat their dogs well, and that most of the dogs, when first adopted as puppies, were believed to come from upstanding breeders, but the fact is that the parents of most puppies bred for commercial gain have not been well-treated," she said.

"The USDA's standards for the treatment of breeder dogs are lax--they allow for housing in small crates, transportation without temperature or hygiene controls, and the removal of puppies from their mothers as early as 6 weeks after birth (8-10 is necessary for proper socialization and the immune benefits of nursing)," she added.

As an RCBA volunteer, Dr. Morgan has deep knowledge of veterinary minimum standards of care and of the USDA regulations that apply to commercial breeders.

Barbara Clifton lends her talents as a community influencer to RCBA. She has a passion to help the community of people who care for dogs--starting with breeders, moving along to dog vendors, and, subsequently, dog owners.

"Dogs deserve respectful treatment from humans. They should receive proper medical care, proper shelter, and proper nutrition. If people can't do right by their dogs, there are rescues to help," she said.

As a member of RCBA's advisory board, Barbara will look for win-win outcomes that ultimately serve the interests of the dogs. An accomplished organizer and fundraiser, Barbara will be a valuable asset to RCBA.

Susan Schrade supports RCBA's research team. With a background in project management for IT firms, Susan is accustomed to digging for details that will allow an idea to become a product or service. She is helping to research dog breeding regulations and registration requirements on both a state and national level..

Susan volunteers for RCBA "to be part of a group of honest, successful people including breeders and vets who want to ensure that dogs bred for profit, and the parents of those dogs, are cared for under healthy, humane conditions."

Susan stays busy in a household that includes "a Westie, two Cavaliers, one of which is a rescue, a rescue Poodle mix, a loving husband, and one 2-legged child." When you volunteer, Susan is usually the first person to welcome you to RCBA's Facebook group.
