BETHLEHEM, PA, March 05, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anna A. Niewiarowska, MD, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in oncology.
Dr. Niewiarowska brings 21 years of experience to her role as a medical doctor in private practice. Throughout her career in medicine, she has set herself apart as an expert in the fields of oncology, excelling in the care of patients with advanced gastrointestinal and lung cancers. She has become increasingly involved in clinical research, especially that which focuses on pancreatic cancer.
Dr. Niewiarowska's group, Vita Medical Associates, PC, was the first oncology practice in Pennsylvania, and the 23rd in the nation, to be recognized by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) certification program, an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. The QOPI certification program is a new ASCO-launched initiative to certify oncology practices that meet the rigorous standards for high-quality cancer care. Her practice is primarily focused on personalized therapy of advanced cancers, with a particular interest in pancreatic, lung and breast cancers.
Dr. Niewiarowska is board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine. She earned her medical degree at the Medical Academy in Warsaw, Poland, completed her internship and residencies at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Throughout the course of her career, Dr. Niewiarowska's research has been published in several medical journals, including the International Journal of Cancer, Blood and the Journal of Biological Chemistry. She is the principal investigator in several gastrointestinal, breast, and lung cancer trials.
Dr. Niewiarowska was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry. She is a member of the following organizations: the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Pancreatic Cancer Research Team, the International Society on Thrombosis & Hemostasis, the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer, and the Philadelphia Lymphoma Rounds Steering Committee. Dr. Niewiarowska has received multiple Compassionate Doctor awards, and has been named one of the top 10 oncologists in her area. In the coming years, she would like to devote her time to patient care and clinical research, particularly on immunotherapy of pancreatic cancer. She would like to increase awareness of the importance of clinical trials in finding successful new treatments and cures for cancer.
