Louis I. Kaplan Honored for Excellence in Estates and Trust Law

    BALTIMORE, MD, March 05, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Louis I. Kaplan, Attorney and Partner of Fisher & Winner, LLP, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in estates and trust.

Mr. Kaplan brings 50 years of professional experience to his position as a attorney and partner of Fisher & Winner, LLP. Prior to entering private practice in 1970, Mr. Kaplan served as an attorney at the national headquarters of the Internal Revenue Service in the areas of estate and gift taxation, and qualified employee retirement plans. Throughout his career, he has set himself apart through his considerable experience in estates and trust, tax planning and retirement planning.

In an early role with a tax consulting firm, Mr. Kaplan regularly wrote retirement plans and forwarded them to the IRS for approval. He was a frequent lecturer before business, civic and professional groups on estates and trust planning, in addition to employee benefits. As a counsel for the S.M. Hyman Company for nearly nine years, Mr. Kaplan assisted law firms with writing retirement plans for charities, businesses and private individuals. As an experienced practitioner of the self-correction program of the IRS, he is very skilled at helping corporate, LLC and LLP entities resolve their tax issues without involving the government.

Mr. Kaplan received a JD from the University of Maryland in 1965. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the Maryland State Bar Association's Section of Taxation Employee Benefits and Estates & Trust Study Groups, and the Estates and Trust Committee of the Bar Association for Baltimore City. Furthermore, he is a member of the Baltimore Estate Planning Counsel, having served as president of that organization from 1999-2000. He is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals of Maryland and the United States Tax Court. He has been recognized for his 30-Year Anniversary as an AV-Preeminent Attorney through Martindale-Hubbell, and he has been a Super Lawyer for a number of years.
