    SAINT-QUENTIN-FALLAVIER, FRANCE, March 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mario Gereis, Director of Industrial Intelligence at Lafarge, has been named a Worldwide Branding Professional of the Year in Manufacturing. While inclusion in Worldwide Branding is an honor, only small selections of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Branding membership.

Possessing 17 years of industry experience, Mr. Gereis has extensive knowledge in industrial performance and cost, business processes, auditing, project management, cement technology, engineering management, and building talent. He embodies energy and a strong drive for results; he takes pride in getting things done in challenging contexts and multimillion-dollar investment responsibilities. His duties in his current role of a year are overseeing the industrial performance of the cement activities of Lafarge, and benchmarking to set performance excellence targets, including cost efficiency.

At the age of 22, Mr. Gereis started his career as a site mechanical engineer with Lafarge immediately after graduation in 1998. He had a fast-track career development path and was constantly challenged.

The highlight of Mr. Gereis' career was being a technical manager in Algeria at the age of 27, a project director in Iraq at 29, and a general manager in Saudi Arabia at 32 starting up a fully-fledged business operation which included the construction of a Greenfield manufacturing facility in less than three years at an investment of EUR0.5 billion. At 35, he moved to Corporate Audit at the headquarters of Lafarge in Paris leading operational risk-based internal audit missions. These missions covered the three main business product lines of the Group in 20 countries, including; India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, China, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Romania, Greece, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Russia, Serbia, Moldova, United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, and Honduras.

Mr. Gereis stands out among his peers by being an active listener, empathetic, agile and engaging others very well. He takes pride in his ability to develop a channel of credibility, trust and respect with stakeholders. He has been successful because of his strong convictions and consistently following them. In the future, Mr. Gereis aspires to gain more responsibility and become a CEO.

Complementing Mr. Gereis' professional experience is his education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and a diploma in project management, both from The American University in Cairo. He also underwent the Executive Education Program in Leadership Development at INSEAD.

In addition to Worldwide Branding, Mr. Gereis also maintains affiliations with the International Project Management Association, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and the Internal Auditors Executive Network. He supports various charitable organizations.
