/24-7PressRelease/ - CHICAGO, IL, February 06, 2008 - As most of the country patiently endures the home stretch of winter, the city of Chicago is celebrating the season with a winter festival taking place in Millennium Park. The Renaissance Chicago Hotel has created the ideal package for families looking to experience Chicago's coldest season from a cozy and warm hotel.
From February 1-29, 2008 locals and travelers alike have the chance to discover Chicago's new winter celebration in famous Millennium Park. Located just a few blocks from the Renaissance Hotel in Chicago, Illinois, this legendary park will become a nouveau winter wonderland.
The free, month long outdoor festival features the US debut of Canadian artist Gordon Halloran and his popular work, Painting Below Zero. Behind the park's famous Cloud Gate sculpture, Halloran will create his largest installation to date. It will be a colorful ice wall measuring 95 feet long and 12 feet tall. One side will feature an artistic rendition of the Chicago skyline, while the other will be inspired by a glacial wall falling and melting. Meant to be interactive, planned and natural changes offer visitors the opportunity to check back often and measure the "glacier's" progress. Millennium Park's McCormick's Tribune Ice Rink will also feature a one-of-a-kind ice painting underneath the ice, for skater's to coast over. Other activities such as treasure hunts and various exhibits will also take place throughout the month beckoning families of all ages to come and visit.
The Chicago Renaissance Hotel is offering an exclusive family package to give parents and their children the opportunity to visit Millennium Park and experience winter in the famous Windy City. Bundle up the kids and spend a fun, affordable night in Chicago. Stay overnight in a deluxe guest room, with an optional upgrade to an Executive Suite with a sleeper sofa and one and a half baths, and discover just how comfortable a night with the family can be. With this unbeatable Chicago vacation package, up to four kids (12 years and under) can enjoy all meals complimentary at the hotel's acclaimed Great Street Restaurant, and with rates from $179 to $309, there's no reason not to make it a weekend winter family getaway.
