SANTA MONICA, CA, March 26, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Students at the Delphi Academy of Santa Monica got the opportunity to explore STEM, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, further when Sylvan Learning Center brought their Robotics for Kids program to the school.
The Sylvan instructors worked with the students to build a robot called Dancing Birds. They learned how to program the robot to spin and make sounds. They were also taught basic mechanical engineering concepts and terms like pulleys, gears, and levers.
"The children were very well behaved, full of energy and very inquisitive," said one of the Sylvan instructors who went to Delphi's campus to teach the Robotics program. "In the spirit of dancing, the class also showed us the 'Happy Dance' (choreographed for the song 'Happy' by Pharrell), which was so cute!"
Delphi Academy of Santa Monica puts a strong emphasis on science instruction as part of its integrated curriculum. Students have many opportunities to apply their science lessons to real life examples through hands-on projects in the science lab or classroom and at Delphi's annual science fair.
