NEW YORK, NY, April 07, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marc Goldstein, Physician at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in male reproductive medicine and surgery.
He is the Matthew P. Hardy Distinguished Professor of Reproductive Medicine, and Urology. He is also adjunct Senior Scientist at the Population Council, Center for Biomedical Research located on the campus of Rockefeller University. He is the Surgeon-in-Chief of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
His technique of microsurgical vasectomy reversal, as published in a peer-reviewed journal, yields the highest reported sperm return and pregnancy rates. He developed a microsurgical technique of varicocelectomy in 1984, and has performed more than 3,500 cases with the lowest reported failure and complication rates. He was the first American surgeon to be trained in, and perform, the Chinese method of no-scalpel vasectomy. Dr. Goldstein has authored and co-authored more than 300 journal articles and book chapters. He is the first urologic surgeon to author the chapter on male reproductive anatomy for the upcoming new edition of "Gray's Anatomy." He previously flew as a flight surgeon in F-4 Phantom aircraft, and helped establish and operate a bare-base medical facility 120 miles north of the Arctic Circle, as well as established a vasectomy clinic at the Royal Air Force base in Alconbury, England.
He holds a MD from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he graduated summa cum laude in 1972. He also earned a Bachelor of Science from Brooklyn College, graduating cum laude 1968. Recently, he was inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains membership in The American Society for Reproductive Medicine, American Society of Andrology, International Microsurgical Society, American Urological Association, Society for the Study of Reproduction, and The Society of Reproductive Surgeons. He was also a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology. Charitably, he supports the American Cancer Society, Kidney & Urology Foundation of America, YAI, HeartShare and Path2Parenthood.
Dr. Goldstein is a long-distance runner and triathlete who races regularly and has completed 20 New York City Marathons.
