Art of Legohn to Premiere Music and Art Division at Launch Party

    NEW YORK, NY, June 05, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Art of Legohn to host a company launch party showcasing the company's dance, music and visual arts division at the Sehiii Gallery on June 10th, 2015 at 7 p.m.

Fresh off the heels of an internationally renown World of Dance showcase and Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic inspired performance at the Brooklyn Museum, Art of Legohn will host a company launch party to premiere the company's newest artistic additions, music and visual arts. The event will feature painting and drawing collections by Art of Legohn artists, Yaminah Legohn, Asha Anderson and Emmanuel Talton in addition to a variety of performances showcasing educator, musician, composer/arranger and Art of Legohn Music Director Fundi Legohn. Art of Legohn dancers will also perform three pieces, including one in the company's signature Afro-Karibe style, a fusion of West African, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, House and Samba dance styles, all choreographed by Art of Legohn Founder and Artistic Director, Yaminah Legohn.

The launch party is presented in partnership with creative emerging artist outlet, Sehiii NYC, in conjunction with the Sehiii Live weekly showcase. Other acts confirmed to perform at the launch party include Shaun Rose, Isat Faqir and DJ Cornelio Octavious. Goods will be for sale by The Positive Vibrations, A Jypsys Junk, Venus Visuals, Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry and Pampered Kisses.

"Visual art and dance come from a different world, but they are very similar. My foundational development as a visual artist has helped me relate to art in a dynamic way that connects my passion for dance, art and music," Yaminah explains. The decision to expand the company to include music and art was a natural course of growth for the company, with all formats being key influencers in Legohn's development as a choreographer, dancer and artist. "To me, the paintbrush is the body and it dances on the canvas to a fundamental beat - the music - to create a picture with movement being the source of expression."
