TAMPA, FL, June 17, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- After successfully advertising the new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, the most powerful muscle car in the automaker's lineup, Chrysler has decided to temporarily halt pre-orders of its 707-horsepower coupe until August, due to the overwhelming demand, according to Allpar.com.
Since dealers started taking orders of the SRT Hellcat two-door model and its four-door sibling last September, the company has managed to deliver 2,200 vehicles to its customers. The issue, however, is that Chrysler originally planned to make 5,000 units of the ultra-powerful Dodge cars, and the current demand is over 9,000 -- a number that has far exceeded the American car maker's expectations -- and has thus forced the manufacturer to pause the program and catch up on a lengthy backlog.
The new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat features retro-styling, a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 that is considered by Chrysler Group to be the most powerful engine of it kind produced by the company, and a segment-first TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, among many other attractive elements.
Customers are very enthusiastic about the new SRT Hellcat coupe and sedan, to the point where dealers have been left jotting down name after name for the past few months, registering as many pre-orders as possible. However, the vehicle takes time to build, and when considering the overwhelming amount of orders, dealers may not receive more than one model per month for the time being.
