Attributing his success to a genuine passion for his work, Dr. Katz takes pride in treating every patient on an individual basis and focusing on their needs.
ORANGE, CT, September 02, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Neurologist Dr. Amiram Katz has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological issues.
With 40 years of practiced expertise in health care, Dr. Katz has achieved professional success through his specialty in neurology. Through his private practice, he provides medical care, consultation, and research and development in various neurological areas. He primarily focuses on Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, Lyme disease, migraine headaches, multiple sclerosis, sleep disorders and other neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory conditions.
As a doctor practicing in Connecticut, Dr. Katz sees many patients with Lyme disease. At the present moment, it is a controversial field that requires careful analysis. Most doctors follow rigid diagnostic guidelines for this condition and refuse to offer antibiotic treatment, or provide only a very limited course of treatment. In addition to Lyme disease, Dr. Katz works with patients who suffer from Alzheimer's disease. He began a clinical trial for the disease. The recently suggested treatment for Alzheimer's disease with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) is too expensive to be considered even if a small fraction of patients with this condition would be treated. Therefore, Dr. Katz is attempting to find an alternative, affordable treatment with this agent. Through bypassing the blood-brain barrier, Dr. Katz hopes to provide a treatment that will benefit patients in need. The treatment is administered directly into the subarachnoid space via an implanted portal, which allows doctors to avoid performing spinal taps and other unpleasant methods of delivering the medicine.
In addition to managing a private practice and conducting clinical research, Dr. Katz is in the process of launching a device that will improve circulation in the legs. He also has more than three decades of teaching experience, and has lectured throughout the United States. To date, Dr. Katz has contributed to more than 50 publications.
Drawn to science at an early age, Dr. Katz realized during his high school years that he wanted to pursue a career involved with health care. In 1976, he earned an MD magna cum laude from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. In order to sharpen his skills and lay the foundation for a successful career, Dr. Katz participated in various post-graduate programs. He completed a residency in neurology and a fellowship in clinical epilepsy at Yale University, as well as a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology and polysomnography at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Attributing his success to a genuine passion for his work, Dr. Katz takes pride in treating every patient on an individual basis and focusing on their needs.
Board certified in neurology, Dr. Katz maintains his reputable presence in the field. He is affiliated with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc., American Academy of Neurology and American Epilepsy Society. He was a member of the board of directors and chairperson of the professional advisory committee of the Epilepsy Foundation of Connecticut. His efforts have led to his recognition as a Top Doctor in the New York Metro Area and Most Compassionate Doctor. He also received a Patients' Choice Award.
In the coming years, Dr. Katz intends to continue provide top-quality medical care to his patients from a practice aspect, and experience continued growth and success from a clinical research aspect, with his current clinical trial in Alzheimer's disease and future research in Lyme disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
