MELBOURNE, FL, October 27, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Captain De Vere Michael Kiss has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in aerospace and education.
Driven by his passion for the fields of aerospace, education, and risk mitigation, Captain Kiss brings with him more than three decades of experience, research, and education. In his career, he has been an airline pilot for MESA, Skywest, PSA, USAir, and US Airways. He holds a current position with American Airlines as an A320 captain. Additionally, he has held numerous leadership roles in training domestic and foreign pilots in the areas of human factors, aviation law, human-machine interfacing, threat and error mitigation, crew resource management, leadership and organizational design. He is a current Ph.D. student and Research Assistant at the school of Human-Centered Design, Innovation, and Arts (HCDIA) at Florida Institute of Technology. Regarded as an expert, he has valued knowledge and perspective of human centered design (HCD) and life critical system (LCS) strategies with regard to crisis causation and proactive accident prevention methodologies through resilience engineering and system maturity. In recognition of his excellence in his career, Captain Kiss was named Professional of the Year this year by Worldwide Branding. This distinction is reserved for the top professional in the field of aerospace and education.
Captain Kiss has met with tremendous success by demonstrating his maturity and resilience in the face of challenges. To support his career, he is certified as a flight instrument instructor, a multi-engine instructor, a Part 121 airline instructor, a university adjunct instructor, and nationally qualified and accredited in several commercial transport category aircraft including Airbus, Boeing, British Aerospace, and Embraer, Fokker, and McDonnell Douglas airliners. A true pioneer of aviation safety, Captain Kiss is pursuing a doctoral degree in human-centered design under the tutelage of Dr. G.A. Boy, Dr. A.L. Stephane, and Dr. O. Doule with the goal of enhancing human situational awareness and decision making to offset anthropological error in life critical domains. In doing so, it will allow him and others, through participatory design and cooperation, to develop resilience engineering for system stability. Additionally, Captain Kiss works in cooperation with Dr. S. Cusick at FIT's College of Aviation for mutual support between the two colleges. Last year, he was awarded a seat with the SAE G-10G Realistic Training Committee making vital recommendations to the FAA in regards to pilot procedural training. In the years to come, Captain Kiss will continue to excel as a highly regarded leader in aviation.
