GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB, December 12, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bobbi Chamberlain, Human Resources Advisor at Grande Prairie Regional College, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Bobbi Chamberlain will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2015/2016.
After earning a diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Bobbi Chamberlain landed her first position in 1995 as a Lumber Operator with the additional responsibility as Team Development Leader where she got her first taste of the various functions of Human Resources. Working in a very male dominated workforce, skills she learned early on were honesty, tenacity, and humor, all of which have proven to serve her well. Her official start in human resources came five years later as the site wide Employee Relations/Internal Communications Leader. Ms. Chamberlain worked her way up, learning the ins and outs of the profession. Prior to leaving this employer to start a family, she had successfully obtained the position of the Human Resources Lumber Mill Lead, allowing her the privilege to be an active member on the Mill Leadership Team. Returning to the workforce in 2011, she took a position as an HR Generalist for Opus Stewart Weir. Working closely with the VP of Corporate Services in a more senior role, the growth she experienced there was enormous. Fast forward another four years, leaving the private industry and moving to the public sector, she is now the Human Resources Advisor at Grand Prairie Regional College in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada.
"Over the years I've discovered that I have a strong moral compass," Ms. Chamberlain said. "It's something that cannot be taught in a classroom. It is knowing when you need to be tough and when to be soft, when you should speak and when you should listen, and when to push versus when to hold back. Having this skill makes human resources work very fulfilling. It truly is a pleasure to come to work."
Ms. Chamberlain recently achieved her Registered Professional Recruiter designation through Institute of Professional Management. She is certified in the use of Organizational Effective Inventory, Organizational Culture, Life Skills Inventory I and II through Human Synergistics. She is also in part-time studies to achieve her Bachelor of Management degree with a tentative completion date in the spring of 2017.
Happily married, Ms. Chamberlain is also the proud mother of two. She enjoys mentoring others and considers herself a lifelong learner, which she find to be very empowering.
