LIVINGSTON, NJ, December 24, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alison Grann, Medical Doctor, Chairwoman and Radiation Oncologist of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in oncology.
Dr. Grann has 20 years of overall medical experience, with 15 years in her current role at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Prior to taking on this position, she worked in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for five years. Throughout her medical career, Dr. Grann has set herself apart in many areas, most notably in the treatment and management of breast cancer. She also takes a special interest in the treatment and research of brain tumors, prostate cancer and lung cancers.
Looking back over an achievement-filled career, Dr. Grann concludes that she became involved in her profession because her father was a medical oncologist and she remembers going on house calls with him. During undergraduate school, she knew she wanted to do something that could make a difference, and medicine seemed like the perfect choice.
Dr. Grann completed a residency in radiation oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 1998 and a residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 1994. Prior to that, she received her MD from The George Washington University in 1991. In addition to her degrees and postdoctoral training, she is board certified in radiation oncology. Dr. Grann was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the New York Metropolitan Breast Cancer Group, the American Society of Breast Disease and the American Society of Radiation Oncology. In recognition of the excellence that she has demonstrated throughout her career, Dr. Grann has been named as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in Radiation Oncology in the New York Metro Area from 2012-2015. She was also honored as a Best Doctor in America, and she has received the Saint Barnabas Medical Center Excellence in Caring Award. In years to come, Dr. Grann hopes to continue providing her patients with high-quality care.
