NORFOLK, VA, December 30, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Elizabeth F. Leeor, Graduate Certified Associate Professor of Art at Old Dominion University and Owner of Drawing On It's Own, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Elizabeth F. Leeor will be featured in the upcoming edition of the Women of Distinction Magazine in 2015/2016.
Beginning her teaching career with a full graduate scholarship while studying at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 1989, Elizabeth F. Leeor is now serving as a Graduate Certified Associate Professor of Art at Old Dominion University 25 years later. During the course of her career in education, Ms. Leeor has served as an Art Director for Beverly Enterprises and as a Professor of Art at VCU and Ball State University. Landing a position at Old Dominion University in 2000, she has spent more than 30 years of her life and career honing her craft.
"My goals are simple: to teach every day and to do it better than the last week of the last semester," Ms. Leeor said. "As an educator, I have a profound love and respect for the possibilities that a university education can inspire."
In addition to teaching at the college level, Ms. Leeor is also the Owner of Drawing On It's Own, an independent studio that she runs from her home. Formed in 2005, this business covers freelance Medical Illustration, Illustration, Graphic Design and Photography. This was inspired by a growing interest in Medical Illustration and the publications and awards received in 2015.
Ms. Leeor served in the US Army from 1976-80. She earned her BFA in 1989, followed by her MFA in Photography, Film, and Design with additional study and emphasis on Figure Painting in 1992. Becoming a Certified Yoga Instructor in 2013, she is also a member of the Holocaust Commission and a member of the American Medical Illustration and the Association of European of Scientific Medical Illustrators. Over the course of her career, Ms. Leeor has written numerous articles relative to her field, edited several drawing textbooks, and earned several teaching awards, including the Distinguished Teaching Award from the College of Arts and Letters at Old Dominion University in 2013.
