Ms. Poley is a licensed mental health counselor who has recently relocated from New York to Virginia Beach, where she continues to utilize more than three decades of professional experience to help others. While in New York, Ms. Poley had her own practice for 15 years and worked as a therapist in the counseling center at Marist College. In 1979, Ms. Poley graduated from Vassar College with a degree in psychology. She went on to receive a master's degree through Marist College's counseling and community psychology program in 1983. In 2006, she was licensed as a mental health counselor. Ms. Poley decided to focus her early work on the area of eating disorders due to her own history with anorexia and bulimia as a student. She was assisted by a team of counselors and health care workers who led her on the path to recovery. As a result of her personal experience, Ms. Poley is uniquely equipped to help clients wwho are currently struggling with a wide array of disorders and mental illnesses. She competently works with individuals with bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety. She most recently worked with patients with concurrent psychiatric illness and chemical dependency at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center. Ms. Poley, who supports many philanthropic causes, intends to continue helping others in multiple capacities in the coming years.
