Terri Howald Honored for Excellence in Phlebotomy

    HANNIBAL, MO, February 04, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Terri Howald, PBT, Phlebotomy Processing Coordinator and Certified Phlebotomist of Hannibal Regional Hospital, Inc., has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in phlebotomy.

Ms. Howald has 16 years of experience as a phlebotomy processing coordinator and certified phlebotomist of Hannibal Regional Hospital, Inc. As an expert in phlebotomy, she is primarily responsible for drawing blood, conducting drug screenings and urine tests, ordering outpatient tests, loading machines for tests, training new employees and performing breath alcohol tests. Ms. Howald was the first person in her phlebotomy laboratory to be trained to load machines for tests. She is also the trainer for the breath alcohol device.

Looking back, Ms. Howald attributes her success to her ability to work for a great hospital that gives every opportunity to improve and further her education, and the support she receives from her family and mentors. She became involved in her profession through the suggestion of her friend, a phlebotomist. The highlight of Ms. Howald's career was learning different aspects of the medical field. Ms. Howald is a certified phlebotomist through the American Society for Clinical Pathology in 2001. In years to come, she hopes to obtain a certification in medical technology and pursue a bachelor's degree.
