Dick Chopin has been practicing law since 1973 and is one of the founding partners of Chopin Wagar Richard & Kutcher, LLP, having begun that firm in 1996. He is well-respected for his skills, ethics and professionalism and has consistently been selected for the highest possible ratings in all areas by his peers. As a partner of Chopin Wagar Richard & Kutcher, LLP, Mr. Chopin has set himself apart through his experience in oil field litigation, maritime and admiralty law, contractual and insurance litigation, product liability, and family law, including divorce and child custody.

Mr. Chopin graduated from Loyola University College of Law in May 1973, and he has been admitted to the Louisiana State Bar Association since 1973 and the State Bar of Texas since 1997. Mr. Chopin received a JD from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1973, and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a dual major in economics and marketing from Loyola University in 1971. He is admitted to practice by the State Bar of Texas and the Louisiana State Bar Association as well as before all federal courts in Louisiana, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals an the United States Supreme Court. He earned several academic honors such as being a member of the National Moot Court Team and the Loyola Law Review. In undergraduate school he was inducted into the Blue Key National Honor Fraternity and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Fraternity. He has also been professionally recognized for his skills, talents, hard work and dedication. Among others, he has received and AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell for many years. He has been recognized as one of the Top Attorneys in Louisiana by the Super Lawyer Section of St. Charles Avenue Magazine from 2009-2016, and he has been honored as a Super Lawyer from 2009-2016. He has been chosen as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in America. He serves as a member of the Loyola College of Law adjunct faculty where he teaches Trial Advocacy.
