SAN DIEGO, CA, May 11, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jackson Design & Remodeling (JDR) today announced that three of its designs have won ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) San Diego Chapter Design Excellence Awards. Judged by industry peers, the ASID Design Excellence Awards are equivalent to the film industry's SAG (Screen Actors Guild) awards making it one of the most prestigious and sought-after awards programs for designers in the industry.
"I am incredibly proud of our winning designers," said Todd Jackson, Founder and CEO of Jackson Design and Remodeling. "Tatiana and Sol are incredibly talented designers who continue to inspire us with their innovative and exceptional designs. It's really special to see other designers in the industry recognize their tremendous talent. As two of our senior designers, Tatiana and Sol are constantly seeking opportunities to learn and grow as designers and to share their knowledge with all those around them. They are true leaders in the design industry and we are so proud to have them on our Jackson Design and Remodeling team."
The purpose of the ASID Design Excellence Awards Competition is to recognize and reward outstanding interior design by ASID San Diego Chapter Members, and to encourage and inspire new ideas and showcase innovations in the design and furnishing of interior spaces. Submissions were judged and winners determined by a committee of ASID Professional Interior Design Members from a neutral ASID Chapter in order to avoid any conflict of interest. JDR's three winning projects include:
Kitchens- 2nd Place
Senior Designer Tatiana Machado-Rosas, CKD, Allied ASID
Design Assistants Olga Trujillo and Priscilla Jimenez
Residential Designer John Kavan
Interior Stylist Karina Kmiotek
This expansive kitchen was designed for a couple with two children who value art and family, love to cook large Italian meals, and frequently entertain. The homeowners wanted an elegant, welcoming and far less isolated kitchen with more natural light. JDR designers made the architectural design decision to relocate the kitchen to maximize the appreciation of amazing natural vistas and define the kitchen as a central gathering space. A refined black, white and gold palette is balanced by the contemporary feeling of clean, disciplined lines, while the cooktop's custom hood punctuates the space with originality.
Baths- 2nd Place
Senior Designer Sol Quintana Wagoner, Allied ASID
Design Assistant Liz Carter, AKBD
Interior Stylist Karina Kmiotek
The professional yet free-spirited couple who own this mountaintop home wanted to replicate the feeling of an outdoor shower they experienced in a favorite resort during one of their many Caribbean trips together. Built in 1962 at the top of Mt. Helix, the home features stunning natural views and unusual architecture. This memorable master bath evokes the experience of a Caribbean destination resort with a contemporary aesthetic. Connected indoor and outdoor showers and the design's emphasis on openness appeal to the imagination. The JDR design team used colors and materials throughout the room to express an artistic spirit, while careful space planning and storage options provide a high level of modern functionality. Whether luxuriating in the sumptuous indoor shower or in the open air of the outdoor shower, this inviting space creates an unforgettable adventure for all the senses.
Residential Space Over 3,500 Square Feet- 3rd Place
Senior Designer Tatiana Machado-Rosas
Residential Designer John Kavan
Design Assistants Priscilla Jimenez and Olga Trujillo
Interior Stylist Karina Kmiotek
Designed for homeowners with Sicilian roots, this expansive outdoor space integrates a main kitchen along with a wine tasting room, a catering kitchen, his and her bathrooms, an outdoor kitchen, shaded outdoor areas, a greenhouse, a garden and fruit trees, and other amenities, making this Sicilian-inspired villa the perfect location for entertaining large gatherings of friends and family. The outdoor living space graciously unifies with the main home and with its surrounding neighborhood, encompassing all the elements of its grand scale with harmonious flow. For a space used often at night to entertain large groups, thoughtful lighting design was essential. The lighting was planned for task, mood and accent. Lights on the walls can be bent to subtly alter illumination, while the lighting of the stone columns is from can lights in the floor to emphasize the architectural aspects of the space. Lighting above the trellis shines down on the table for dining. Inside the cabana, JDR designers used rustic woods, earthly colors, stacked stone, exposed beams and meticulous details, such as hand-painted tiles, to create a warm and inviting setting. The space was designed to accommodate indoor and outdoor living and entertaining on a grand scale with multiple levels and gathering points, including areas for eating, cooking, wine tasting, relaxing, and gardening.
