SEATTLE, WA, May 18, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The development team of Shield UI recently added a new and highly anticipated widget to their suite - the Rich Text Editor. The Shield UI Editor allows the creation and formatting of text, using the familiar Bold, Italic, Underline, Justify, Indent, etc. buttons. Different names and sizes of font, text and background colors can be set, as well as existing HTML elements can be styled. Format lists, tables, images, hyperlinks and form elements can be easily inserted. Moreover, predefined CSS class names can be added, in addition one can create custom tools, buttons, dropdowns or dialogs in order to meet specific requirements. The intuitive toolbox of the Shield UI Editor component facilitates the comfortable editing of rich content on the web.
The output of the Shield UI Editor is identical HTML across all major browsers, while following the accessibility standards and providing an API for manipulation of content. The widget allows editing of rich text within web browsers, which presents the opportunity to get use of the "what-you-see-is-what-you-get" (WYSIWYG) editing area. The value generated by the widget comprises of XHTML markup and can be accessed at any time using built-in helper functions.
Furthermore, the Shield UI Editor control allows for insertion and editing of hyperlink by using the out-of-the box Hyperlink settings like target, tooltip and text. An image can be selected from a library, previewed and its properties (text, position, size) changed. The component can also be used for editing tags, different than TEXTAREA, in place. In inline mode the editor toolbar if floating next to the editable element and can be dragged to a more convenient position with the mouse. Predefined styles for the content can also be provided by the Shield UI Editor. In this way content can be edited in a specific style selected from a list of available options.
The manipulation and interaction with the Shield UI Editor happens in JavaScript due to the extensive client-side API and events. Content filters for content validation can be defined and one can specify which tool to be displayed in the toolbar. New commands with custom dialogs can be implemented. One can even create own file browser content providers to utilize different sources - including databases, cloud services, custom role-based CMS systems, Web Services and applications which use URL re-writers.
As with any other Shield UI widgets, the Editor control comes with a set of predefined themes, which ensure consistent look across products. Custom theming can also be applied, to handle any specific visual requirements scenario. Last but not least, Shield UI Editor is also available for the ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC and Java Apache Wicket server-side frameworks.
